With that being said, we have also converted to being a Wella focus salon featuring Wella and various retail that includes: VERB, Olaplex, Sebastian, WOW, and Roots products(while supplies last).

Along with being our Owner/Manager, Tana is absolutely brilliant with hair and waiting to design a new you. Tana has over 10+ years of experience in the industry, and after working at Roots from the beginning of her career she and her partner took over the business as of January 2022.
Tana prides herself in being a terrific communicator, someone who will inform her clients on their perfect personal style. If you’re looking for a unique experience, you’ll find it in Tana. Her passion for art and design is apparent in all her creative hair designs and colours. Her strengths are working with lived in blondes, luxury brunettes, balayage techniques and grey blending. Tana is an excellent listener and shes always happy to lend you an ear. Keith is one of the icons of hair. Originally from England, Keith is the former owner of Vancouver’s top independent salon ZERO F before moving to Vancouver Island in 2007. Keith believes that personal style is a celebration of the freedom of expression. His profound knowledge of fashion influences of the past and present inform his work, which is both modern and timeless. Keith is committed to individualistic styling that fits the client. Keith is recognized as a premier artist by the industry’s top hair care companies, the Hairdressers’ Guild, BC Hairdressing Association, and Gold Medalist Judges’ panel.
Meet Robin, a seasoned professional in the hair industry since 2009, specializing in barbering since 2010 with a knack for men’s cuts and flawless fades.
For the past 9 years, she has proudly called the Comox Valley her home base. Beyond her talent with scissors and clippers, Robin harbors a deep passion for personal training and nutrition, dedicating her spare time to coaching others.
When she’s not perfecting haircuts or empowering clients, you’ll likely find Robin by the water’s edge or hosting lively gatherings with friends on her days off. At Roots the Salon, we’re thrilled to welcome Robin and her vibrant energy to our team.
Meet Alana Johnson, the newest addition to the Roots Team as their vibrant receptionist! With a background steeped in wine education, Alana’s quest for creativity and freedom led her straight to the doors of Roots. She’s eagerly anticipating starting hair school in Fall 2024, ready to immerse herself in a world where she can blend her passions for beauty and innovation.Outside of work, Alana is a devoted explorer of her island home, often accompanied by her beautiful teenage daughters and high school sweetheart. Her downtime is filled with culinary adventures, where she loves to cook up delightful creations from foraged treasures and unwind with a refreshing swim. Alana is thrilled to be surrounded by such a talented team at Roots and looks forward to soaking up knowledge and inspiration from her new colleagues.

Rebekah is Comox Valley born and raised and has a strong passion for everything hair related, and loves learning new things! In her spare time Rebekah loves to paddle board, or cuddle with her pet dog and cat…. Oh and her husband too! Rebekah has been a professional stylist for the last 10 years, graduated at Del Rio Academy Hair school in 2013 and specializes in creative colours, highlighting, and balayage techniques. If you are looking for a fun, LGBTQ+ friendly, creative hairstylist, Rebekah is definitely your gal and will NOT disappoint.

Shannon grew up in the Comox Valley and is very eager to continue to grow personally and professionally here as a proud member of the Roots Salon team. She has always had a fascination for the beauty industry and especially in regards to hair. While she loves all things hair, she has a passion for all kinds of blondes, whether it be ‘lived in’ blondes to ‘bleach outs’ .
In September 2019, Shannon took the Babe Mastery Tour for Hair Extensions and can help you work towards your hair dreams with the many different types of Babe Hair Extensions.
Shannon’s goal is to create an inclusive and comfortable environment and to have every one of her guests feeling confident when they leave her chair. Having provided them the knowledge to allow them to continue their hair journey even when they are in between appointments.

Graduating from VIU in 2023, Elijah discovered her natural talent as an artist, transitioning seamlessly from paper to hair. She specializes in creating stunning lived-in colors and intricate layered styles, tailored to each client’s unique personality and preferences.
Beyond her creative pursuits in the salon, Elijah thrives in the great outdoors. You’ll often find her exhilaratingly dirt biking through rugged trails, carving fresh powder on the slopes snowboarding, or indulging in her love for sushi and a good book. Her diverse interests and adventurous spirit not only inspire her work but also reflect her dynamic approach to life.
